Scootle
Scootle is a website that contains digital resources that align to the Australian Curriculum. The site is available for all registered teachers of state, catholic and independent schools across the country (apart from state school teachers in New South Wales). The free registration begins with entering an education email address before signing up, stating your position (teacher, principal, trainee teacher etc). This provides access to every resource on the site, for easy access and download.
Resources can be searched by Australian Curriculum subject area - English, Maths, Science, History and Geography - before specifying grade, capabilities and cross-curricular links. The curriculum content descriptors are grouped by grade and elaborations and resources can be found by selecting the descriptor. Each resource is listed with the aligned learning areas, year levels and popularity. Once selected, resources can be explored, educational details viewed and content downloaded.
Teachers can subscribe to Scootle News that connects the teachers to Scootle Community, providing them with up to date education news and events. This subscription requires a simple registration with an email address, school type and job, leading them to digital resources that support the curriculum.

Recommendation
Scootle is a great resource for teachers to consider in their lesson and unit planning. The alignment to the Australian Curriculum ensures the resources are relevant and age appropriate. The free registration is a simple process that encourages teachers to use the site, as does the link to Scootle on the Australian Curriculum website. I believe this site to be a effective planning tool for teachers.
